Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated 28 July 2026

Featurelab generates video, synthetic speech and AI-assisted content. That makes some misuse genuinely harmful, so this policy is short, specific and enforced. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

1. Voices and likeness

Featurelab offers licensed synthetic voices supplied by our speech provider. Using one of those requires nothing from you.

Some voices in the shared library are derived from real, identifiable people. Before you use a shared, uploaded or cloned voice associated with an identifiable person, we ask you to confirm that you are the speaker or hold the speaker’s documented permission. We record that confirmation.

Documented permission means a written or electronically recorded authorisation that identifies the speaker and permits the specific synthetic-voice use you intend. For an uploaded or cloned voice, it must expressly cover voice cloning or synthetic speech — permission to use an original recording is not permission to synthesise a voice from it.

You must not:

  • Generate speech in the voice of a real person without their explicit, informed and documented permission.
  • Create content that presents a real person as saying or doing something they did not say or do.
  • Use a voice or likeness to imply endorsement, affiliation or authorship that does not exist.
  • Impersonate a public figure, official body or organisation in a way likely to mislead people about the source or authenticity of the content. Clearly disclosed parody or satire may be permitted, but must still comply with this policy and the law.
  • Impersonate a person or organisation to request money, credentials, confidential information, account access or any other valuable action.
  • Confirm you hold rights to a voice when you do not. That confirmation is a contractual statement, not a formality.

If permission to use a voice or likeness is withdrawn, you must stop creating and distributing new content using it, and tell us so we can restrict further use of that voice. Withdrawal does not necessarily require removal of content lawfully published beforehand, unless the law or your original agreement requires it.

Rights in a person’s voice and likeness vary by country and can apply even where no copyright exists. Permission from whoever supplied a recording is not the same as permission from the person speaking.

2. Content you upload or generate

Uploaded images are checked automatically before being added to your asset library. Rejected files are not retained, although we keep limited metadata about the check for security, abuse prevention and appeals. Automated checks are a floor, not the standard — the rules below apply whether or not a check catches something.

You must not use Featurelab to create, upload or distribute:

  • Child sexual abuse material, or sexual content involving minors, whether real or synthetic.
  • Sexualised content involving a person who cannot reasonably consent.
  • Intimate or sexual content depicting, imitating or purporting to involve an identifiable person without that person's consent, including synthetic images, video or audio.
  • Content that credibly threatens violence, encourages violence against an identifiable person or group, or praises real-world violent acts in a way likely to encourage further harm.
  • Content that harasses, bullies or doxxes an identifiable person, or knowingly makes materially false allegations likely to cause serious reputational harm.
  • Personal or confidential information obtained, uploaded or used without a lawful basis or appropriate permission.
  • Content that demeans or incites hatred against a person or group based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • Content that encourages, instructs or pressures a person to commit suicide or serious self-harm.
  • Content that meaningfully facilitates serious criminal wrongdoing, or the creation of weapons, explosives or dangerous substances.
  • Material that infringes copyright, trade marks or other rights you do not hold.
  • Deceptive content about elections, public health or emergencies presented as fact.
  • Malware, phishing pages, or content designed to defraud.

These rules do not prohibit fictional, documentary, journalistic or educational work merely because it depicts violence or difficult subject matter.

3. Disclosing AI-generated media

Where content materially depicts or imitates real people or events and could reasonably be mistaken for an authentic recording, you must clearly disclose that it is synthetic, altered or AI-generated. Some countries require this by law; you are responsible for compliance where your audience is.

This is about content that could pass as real. An ordinary product video that happens to use AI-written copy or synthetic narration does not need a disclosure label.

4. Using the service itself

You must not:

  • Circumvent, disable or probe usage limits, moderation, authentication or billing.
  • Access another account's projects, assets or rendered output, or attempt to. This does not restrict an organisation administrator acting within their own workspace.
  • Share account credentials, or resell access without a written agreement.
  • Scrape, bulk-download or systematically extract data from the service.
  • Use automation that degrades the service for others.
  • Reverse engineer the service except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded.

5. Security research

We will not pursue legal action against good-faith security research that complies with this section. You must use accounts you control, avoid disruption and social engineering, stop immediately if you encounter another user’s data, retain no such data, and report promptly to security@featurelab.video. Give us a reasonable opportunity to investigate and fix an issue before disclosing it publicly, and do not demand payment as a condition of disclosure.

This is our own commitment. It cannot bind third parties, so it does not authorise conduct that is unlawful or that breaches another provider’s terms.

6. You are responsible for your content

You must own, be licensed to use, or otherwise have a lawful basis to upload and use everything you provide — screenshots, recordings, music, logos and any third-party material appearing in them. Screen recordings of software you do not own may be restricted by that software’s own terms.

You are equally responsible for content generated on your instruction. That an AI model produced something does not transfer responsibility for publishing it.

7. How we enforce this

We act proportionately, but we act. Depending on severity and history we may remove content, restrict a feature, suspend an account or terminate it. We may terminate accounts that repeatedly or seriously infringe intellectual-property rights.

Where we identify confirmed or reasonably suspected child sexual abuse material, we may immediately suspend or terminate the account, preserve relevant information, and report it to the appropriate authorities or reporting bodies where required or permitted by law.

When investigating a possible violation, we may consider the content involved, account history, rights confirmations, moderation results and information supplied by affected people.

Where we can, we tell you what happened and why. We may act without notice where the harm is severe or ongoing, or where notice would defeat the purpose.

8. Reporting abuse, and appeals

To report a violation, contact abuse@featurelab.video with enough detail for us to find the content. If it concerns your own voice, likeness or copyright, say so and we will prioritise it.

If you believe we got a decision wrong, including an automated upload rejection, contact support@featurelab.video. A person will review the decision and the information available to us. Because rejected files are not retained, we may ask you to describe the file or resubmit it through a secure review process. We aim to respond within five business days, though complex or high-risk cases can take longer.

9. Changes

We will update this policy as the product and the law change. Material changes will be notified before they take effect. If you do not agree to a material change, you must stop using the service before it applies. Changes will not apply retrospectively unless the law requires it or you expressly agree.
